One of several books I have read in which an autistic or autistic-spectrum character features prominently. i myself have multiple disabilities, but I've been fortunate enough to have had the support and the resources necessary to overcome many of my challenges. in a weird way, autism fascinates me. Probably because it so defies stereotype, and because what works for one child may be catastrophic for another. We are inherently social beings, and when our ability to relate to the world is compromised, even the commonplace becomes fraught with pitfalls. When we are further threatened by traumatic circumstances beyond our control, the results may be tragic and life-changing.
