We Need to Talk about Kevin - Lionel Shriver
Heartbreakingly sad portrayal of a decimated family. Shriver's characters are all too human, and that often means they are unlikeable. I felt throughout the book that I was right beside them, an invisible figure silently imploring them to DO SOMETHING, anything, to set their lives on a different course. They failed to follow their better instincts, and in doing so, they failed each other.
